She attended both Anderson College and Charleston Southern University, earning degrees in, respectively, voice and religion.
Before joining Point of Grace, she performed and recorded with another Christian band, Truth, and went on to form a music duo called KarenLeigh with her bandmate Karen Childers.
Born Robin Leigh Darby in Belton, South Carolina, she married Dana Cappillino in 1992. She and her husband welcomed their first child, Darby Mae, in 2002, and their son, Andy, in 2012. She and Texas-born vocalist Heather Payne were both members of Point of Grace.
