About Slater Martin

Slater Nelson "Dugie" Martin Jr. was an American professional basketball player and coach who was a playmaking guard for 11 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A seven-time NBA All-Star, he won five championships. He is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Martin won All-State honors as a player both years as well. He averaged 9.4 points per game as a sophomore guard during the 1946-47 season, in which UT won the Southwest Conference (SWC) title with a 12–0 conference record and 26–2 overall record.
