About John Denny
John Allen Denny is an American former professional baseball right-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, and Cincinnati Reds, from 1974 to 1986. Denny won the National League (NL) Cy Young Award, in 1983. After defeating the Atlanta Braves on August 23, he had a 9–3 record and had lowered his ERA to 3.49. In his first three games, Denny was 2–1 with a 1.40 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched. Petersburg Cardinals of the Florida State League, where he had an 8–13 win–loss record, but a 3.04 earned run average (ERA) in 23 starting appearances.
