About John Evans (Australian politician)
Sir John William Evans, CMG (1 December 1855 – 2 October 1943) was an Australian politician, a member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly and Premier of Tasmania from 11 July 1904 to 19 June 1909. John Evans was first elected to the Tasmanian House of Assembly in the electorate of Kingborough on 20 January 1897. He won the seat back in 1909 and continued to serve in parliament until 1937 as Commonwealth Liberal and Nationalist.
