About Manny Delcarmen

Manuel Delcarmen, nicknamed The Pride of Hyde Park, is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2005 through 2010 for the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies; he was a member of Boston's 2007 World Series championship team. He later served as an assistant coach with Fisher College in Boston during the 2022 season. Manager Terry Francona remarked that "he’s lean and he’s looking really good." During the 2008 season, Delcarmen appeared in 73 games for Boston, recording a 1–2 record with two saves, 3.27 ERA, and 72 strikeouts. Beginning the season with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, he posted a 4–4 record with three saves and a 3.23 earned run average (ERA) in 31 games. Delcarmen was a second-round pick by Boston in the 2000 Major League Baseball draft; he was the first draftee from a Boston public high school in 34 years. On June 11, Delcarmen got his first major league win, pitching two innings of relief against the Texas Rangers.
