He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Cleveland Indians / Guardians, New York Mets, and New York Yankees. During the 2010 season, Carrasco had a 2–2 record and 3.83 ERA in seven starts for Cleveland. He was discovered by a baseball scout in Venezuela at age 16, and threw for Sal Agostinelli, international scouting director for the Philadelphia Phillies, demonstrating a 91 mph (146 km/h) fastball.
