Ruth Smith Nielsen was a Faroese artist. Ruth Smith was born on April 5, 1913. Smith lived for some years in Denmark, where she was educated as a painter: first, at the Bizzie Højer Art School, and, later, at the Art Academy of Copenhagen. Ruth Smith Nielsen (5 April 1913 in Vágur – 26 May 1958) was a Faroese artist. Ruth Smith dealt with colours more sensitively than many of her contemporaries. There is an art museum in Vágur in honour of Ruth Smith.
