About Robert Beaser

Robert Beaser is an American composer. Robert Beaser was born on May 29, 1954. In 1977, Beaser became the youngest composer to win the Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome. Beaser founded the Whittaker New Music Readings (now the Underwood New Music Readings) with the ACO in the early 1990s, providing an opportunity for young composers to receive hearings of their orchestral works. Beaser was one of the first composers to embrace "New Tonality." Early works such as The Seven Deadly Sins and Variations for flute and piano show his proclivity for dramatic vocal writing as well as continuous variation technique.
