About Ernst Marcus (zoologist)

Ernst Gustav Gotthelf Marcus was a German zoologist, occupant of the chair of zoology at the University of São Paulo from 1936 to 1963, and co-founder of the Oceanographic Institute of the University of São Paulo. He began his doctoral studies in the Entomology Department at the Berlin Museum and, in 1914, he published his first zoological work. With Eveline, Marcus published 162 papers between 1936 and 1968, the first ones in Portuguese.
