About Ferdinand Sauerbruch
Ernst Ferdinand Sauerbruch was a German surgeon. His major work was on the use of negative-pressure chambers for surgery. Before World War II, the German Government awarded Sauerbruch the German National Prize for Art and Science. In mid-September 1943, Sauerbruch was awarded the Knight's Cross of the War Merit Cross with Swords.
