Adrian Anthony Gill was a Scottish writer, best known for writing about food and travel, and for his work in television. After failing to establish himself as an artist, Gill wrote his first piece for Tatler in 1991 and joined The Sunday Times in 1993. Known for his sharp wit, and often controversial style, Gill was widely read and won numerous awards for his writing. In 2014, Gill won an Amnesty International Media Award, and a Women on the Move award for a series of Sunday Times Magazine articles on refugees in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jordan and Lampedusa.
