About Serena Chen
Serena Chen is an American social psychologist known for her work on the self and interpersonal relationships. She is Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, and currently serves as Chair of the Psychology Department. Her research utilizes a social-cognition framework, and has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and other news outlets. Chen first worked at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 2006, Chen won the Early Career Award from the International Society for Self and Identity, which is an award given to an individual who has made advancements in the field within 10 years of obtaining their PhD. She also won the Distinguished Teaching Award from the Social Sciences Division of the University of California, Berkeley, in 2010.
