About Pauline Betz
Pauline May Betz Addie was an American professional tennis player. She won five Grand Slam singles titles and was the runner-up on three other occasions. Jack Kramer called her the second best female tennis player he ever saw, behind Helen Wills Moody. Betz won the Eastern Clay Court Championships in 1941 and also won the Eastern Grass Court Championships that same year with a close win in the final against Sarah Palfrey Cooke. Betz won the first of her four singles titles at the U.S. She won the Dixie International Championships three times (1940–1942).
