Eli Apple is an American professional football cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes, winning the 2015 National Championship before being selected by the New York Giants in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft. At the conclusion of the pre-draft process, Apple was projected to be an early to mid-first round pick by NFL draft experts and scouts. The New York Giants selected Apple in the first round (10th overall) of the 2016 NFL draft. Head coach Ben McAdoo named Apple the third cornerback on the depth chart to begin the regular season and first-team nickelback.
