Andre Jules Dubus II was an American writer of short stories, novels, and essays. Dubus eventually continued to write after his accident and produced two books of essays, including Broken Vessels, which became a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, and a collection of short stories. Dubus graduated from nearby McNeese State College in 1958 as a journalism and English major.
