About CJ McCollum

Christian James McCollum is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Lehigh Mountain Hawks and was named the Patriot League Player of the Year in 2010 and 2012. McCollum was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers tenth overall in the 2013 NBA draft. He was chosen as the NBA Most Improved Player in 2016. McCollum was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2022, the Washington Wizards in 2025, and to the Atlanta Hawks in 2026. McCollum served as president of the National Basketball Players Association from 2021 to 2025. In his very first game as a junior, McCollum came away with 54 points to set both school and Stark County records. McCollum led the Mountain Hawks to the 2010 NCAA tournament, where he put up 26 points in a first-round loss to a top-seeded Kansas team. His shooting percentages dipped to 39.9 percent from the field, as did Lehigh's record, and McCollum was edged out for conference Player of the Year honors by Mike Muscala of the Bucknell Bisons. McCollum was named First Team All-Conference.
