About Archbishop Christodoulos of Athens
Christodoulos (17 January 1939 – 28 January 2008) (Greek: Χριστόδουλος, born Christos Paraskevaidis, Χρήστος Παρασκευαΐδης) was Archbishop of Athens and All Greece as such the primate of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece from 1998 to 2008. At 59 years of age, he was the youngest Archbishop to head the Greek Church. Christodoulos created a major controversy in 2003 when he denounced proposals to let Turkey enter the European Union, calling the Turks "barbarians".
