About John Donaldson, Baron Donaldson of Lymington
John Francis Donaldson, Baron Donaldson of Lymington, was a British barrister and judge who served as Master of the Rolls for ten years, from 1982 to 1992. He was the first President of the short-lived National Industrial Relations Court from 1971 to 1974. Donaldson attended first Charterhouse and then Trinity College, Cambridge. She later became the first woman to be a Member of the City of London Court of Common Council, the first female Alderman, the first female Sheriff and, finally, in 1983, the first female Lord Mayor of London.
