About Mimis Domazos

Dimitris "Mimis" Domazos (Greek: Δημήτρης "Μίμης" Δομάζος; 22 January 1942 – 24 January 2025) was a Greek professional football player who played as an attacking midfielder. His nickname was "The General" (Greek: "Ο Στρατηγός"). He served as Panathinaikos' captain for over 15 years. In 2021, the IFFHS included him in the all-time Best XI of Greek football. On 26 November 1963, Domazos scored four goals in the 5–2 away win against Proodeftiki and became the first player in the club's history to score four goals in an official match. In his first three seasons, he won the same number of championships. In the Cup final in 1969, he scored a free kick against Olympiacos and after the 1–1, on a flip of a coin during extra time, he chose correctly and his team was awarded the title. Another remarkable moment of his career was in 1977 when Panathinaikos won the Balkans Cup, even though he did not compete in the double final against Slavia Sofia.
