Lucy Stanton Day Sessions was an American abolitionist and feminist figure, notable for being the first African-American woman to complete a four-year course of a study at a college or university. She completed a Ladies Literary Course from Oberlin College in 1850. At Oberlin College, Stanton was very active in the Ladies' Literary Society and even became the first Black president of the Ladies' Literary Society.
