About Alberto Vargas
Joaquin Alberto Vargas y Chávez was a Peruvian-American painter of pin-up girls. He is often considered one of the most famous of the pin-up artists and one of the pioneers of airbrush art. Numerous Vargas paintings have sold and continue to sell for tens of thousands of dollars around the world. Vargas became famous in the 1940s as the creator of iconic World War II-era pin-ups for Esquire known as "Vargas Girls".
