Dănuț Lupu is a Romanian former professional footballer who played as a central midfielder. Lupu was a player known for his dribbling and passing abilities. He won the championship with The Greens, although he played there only 10 league games in which he scored one goal. In 1997, when Lucescu became Rapid's coach, Lupu returned for a third spell at The Railwaymen, and after winning the Cupa României in the first season, he won the championship in the following one, contributing with five goals scored in 28 matches.
