About Deryck Cooke

Deryck Cooke was a British musician, musicologist, broadcaster and Gustav Mahler expert. From Wyggeston Grammar School for Boys he won an organ scholarship to Selwyn College, Cambridge, where he was taught by Patrick Hadley and Robin Orr. However, only part of the first volume, dealing with the text, was finished; it was published after his death as I Saw the World End.
