About Dinmukhamed Konayev

Dınmūhammed Ahmetūly Qonaev (Kazakh: Дінмұхаммед Ахметұлы Қонаев; 12 January 1912 [O.S. 31 December 1911] – 22 August 1993) was a Soviet communist politician who served as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Kazakh SSR. Brezhnev soon became the first secretary of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan in 1955 and a member of CPSU Politburo in 1956. When Brezhnev left Kazakhstan in 1956, Ivan Iakovlev became the First Secretary of the Kazakh Communist Party (and was succeeded by Nikolai Belyaev).
