Francisco Ayala García-Duarte was a Spanish writer, the last representative of the Generation of '27. During those years he published his first two novels, Tragicomedia de un hombre sin espíritu (Tragicomedy of a Spiritless Man) and Historia de un amanecer (A Sunrise Tale). He also founded, along with fellow Spaniard Lorenzo Luzuriaga, the magazine Realidad.
