About Hazem Emam

Hazem Mohamed Yehia El Horria Mohamed Emam (Egyptian Arabic: حازم محمد يحيى الحرية محمد إمام; born 16 April 1975) is an Egyptian former professional footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. He is a member of the Egyptian House of Representatives and former board member of Egyptian Football Association and Zamalek SC. He is widely regarded one of the greatest Egyptian players of all time. He spent his entire career in Egypt with Zamalek. Emam achieved numerous accomplishments as a player, and Egyptian fans affectionately nicknamed him The Fox, The Emperor and The Imam of Talents. Following his retirement, Emam then served as a board member of Zamalek and a board member of the Egyptian Football Association. He comes from a distinguished Egyptian football family; he is the son of Hamada Emam and the grandson of Yehia Emam, both former stars of Zamalek and the Egyptian national team. His football career began with the youth teams of the Egyptian Shooting Club before he moved to the youth ranks of Zamalek, joining the first team in 1993. He then joined Udinese in Italy and De Graafschap in the Netherlands, before returning to Zamalek to captain the team, in which he won 14 titles throughout his career. Internationally, Emam was part of the Egypt national football team that won the 1998 Africa Cup of Nations. During his football career, he received numerous accolades, including being named the best Egyptian footballer in 2002, and 2003. He announced his retirement from professional football in 2008 after Zamalek won the Egypt Cup. After retiring, he moved into sport management and also works as a football analyst for Egyptian sports television channels.
