About Jo Jo White

Joseph Henry White was an American professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks, where he was named a second-team All-American twice. White was part of the U.S. men's basketball team during the 1968 Summer Olympics, winning a gold medal with the team. A seven-time NBA All-Star, White set a Celtics record with 488 consecutive games played. During the first overtime, White took and made a shot (a 35-foot runner) as the buzzer sounded, but he was ruled out of bounds by referee Rudy Marich. After the Olympics, White was drafted in 1969 in the first round (9th pick overall) by the NBA's Boston Celtics, who at that time had just won their 11th NBA title in 13 years. White became a leader of the team, and made the consensus NCAA All-American Second Team in 1968 and 1969.
