Marcia Judith Freedman was an American-Israeli activist and politician. She advocated for a two-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, as well as for women's and gay rights. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Freedman immigrated to Israel in 1969, where she played a leading role in the development of the second-wave feminist movement during the 1970s. She served as a member of the Knesset from 1973 to 1977. The party won three seats in the 1973 Israeli legislative election, resulting in Freedman’s election to the Knesset. Freedman became active in promoting gay rights and came out as a lesbian after her Knesset term ended.
