Fumero's first starring role and breakthrough came in 2013, when she was cast in Fox's untitled comedy pilot as the female lead opposite Andy Samberg. The Hollywood Reporter commented the season premiere was "a quick and easy reminder of how good Fumero and Samberg are together;" the magazine said Samberg's smaller moments gave her the chance to be "wonderfully broad".
