About Richard Stoker

Richard Stoker was a British composer, writer, actor and artist. Stoker also composed song cycles, choral music (such as the dramatic cantata Ecce homo, 1962, his first large scale choral work) and music for the organ (Organ Symphony, op. 58, 1980). He won several prizes at the RAM, culminating in the Mendelssohn Scholarship in 1962, which took him to Paris to study with Nadia Boulanger. An early success as a composer was with the orchestral overture Antic Hay (1961) which won the first Royal Amateur Orchestral Society Award.
