Robert Shelton Royal is an American former professional football player who was a tight end in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the LSU Tigers and was selected by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL draft. He also played in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns. Royal attended Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was a standout in football and basketball. Royal was selected 160th overall by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL draft. Royal signed with the Buffalo Bills as an unrestricted free agent on March 11, 2006. After his release from the Bills, Royal was signed by the Cleveland Browns on March 5, 2009.
