About Vasily Safonov

Vasily Ilyich Safonov (Russian: Василий Ильич Сафонов; 25 January [O.S. 6 February] 1852 – 27 February 1918), also known as Wassily Safonoff, was a Russian pianist, teacher, conductor and composer. Safonov was best known for his work in music education. Anna Vasilyevna Timiryova (1893–1975) became a poet and later spent many years in labor camps and exile.
