About Vicente Rodríguez

Vicente Rodríguez Guillén, known simply as Vicente, nicknamed El puñal de Benicalap, is a Spanish former professional footballer. Vicente represented Spain in the first half of the 2000s, and played at Euro 2004. The arrival of Rafael Benítez as coach in 2001–02 would mark Vicente's opportunity to prove himself, and his progress coincided with the club's first league title in 31 years. Vicente was again often injured in 2006–07, most notably in the first leg of a Champions League quarter-final tie with Chelsea which ended his campaign. In 2008–09, although playing fewer minutes, Vicente was able to contribute more regularly, while competing for first-choice status with young Juan Mata.
