Vladimir Eduardovich Akopian (Russian: Владимир Акопян, Armenian: Վլադիմիր Հակոբյան; born December 7, 1971) is an Armenian-American chess Grandmaster. He won the World Under-16 Championship in 1986 at the age of 14 and the World Under-18 Championship at 16. Akopian defeated World Champion Vladimir Kramnik in the first round of the Corus chess tournament 2004 and was in the lead for the beginning of the tournament. In 1991, he won the World Junior Chess Championship.
